Max Wareham & the National Bluegrass Team are bringing their soulful, high-energy sound to the Granite stage.

After touring nationally with bluegrass legend Peter Rowan, Max hits the road with songs from his debut album “DAGGOMIT!” — a heartfelt nod to banjo tradition with a fresh, original twist. Max Wareham & the National Bluegrass Team features international mandolin prodigy Jean Baptiste Cardineau, singer and guitarist Jack Holland, and Boston bass stalwart Chris Sartori (Twisted Pine).

Originally from Middletown, CT, Max Wareham is a banjo player and composer based in Boston, MA. Max’s commitment to early innovators of the instrument shines on Dagommit!, his debut record of soulful original songs, highlighted by the hard-driving chemistry of Nashville’s preeminent bluegrass stars. Max tours nationally with the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band, with whom he has performed at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Ryman Auditorium, Merlefest, Green Mountain Bluegrass Festival, IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards, and many more.

New England Bluegrass Music Showcase at the Bijou Theatre Nov 22

Join us for an unforgettable night of New England’s most celebrated Bluegrass bands. From the progressive, eclectic sounds of On the Trail to the hard driving traditional grooves of Rock Hearts, there is something for everyone at this special showcase night at the Bijou Theatre!

Rock Hearts – Formed in 2013, Rock Hearts brings together five seasoned musicians from Southern New England who love to sing and pick bluegrass, old country tunes, and seek out tunes from other genres to “bluegrass-ify.” Named an Official 2021 IBMA Showcase Band, the band is enjoying national radio and Chart activity. They are a sought after band for major festivals. They are 615 Hideaway record label artists and work closely with label owner, Sammy Passamano, in Nashville, TN. Their first independent project, Starry Southern Nights, put them on the national radar. A year later they signed with Sammy Passamano and released their first 615 Hideaway Records label single from their new project, Wanderlust, which continues to receive outstanding fanfare and radio attention. Their 3rd project and second with the 615, Unfinished Bridges, is by far their best work yet.

On The Trail – “On the Trail is a modern acoustic band that explores everything from bluegrass to contemporary pop, from stunning instrumentals to beautiful traditional songs. The group was founded through their love of bluegrass and the band the Punch Brothers. They have already gained recognition and praise for their exploration and strong execution of the challenging music, as well as for their new original music. Most recently, On the Trail had the honor of winning the 2022 Thomas Point Beach Band Competition after participating in 2021’s Telefunken Battle of the Bands at the Podunk Bluegrass Festival. They also were selected as an Emerging Artist at Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival 2023. On The Trail features Austin Scelzo (fiddle and vocals), Tom Polizzi (mandolin and vocals), Charlie Widmer (guitar and vocals) and Matt Curley (upright bass and vocals). Their latest album “Where Do We Go From Here” is also available for streaming on all platforms.”
