Bluegrass Tuesdays Return to the Legendary Cantab

Bluegrass Tuesdays at the Cantab Lounge began in September of 1993 and have grown to host regional and national artists on stage, and serve as a weekly gathering place for the local bluegrass community. For 27 years, Tuesday Night Bluegrass at the Cantab Lounge was hosted by folk icon Geoff Bartley, who was honored on February 13, 2004 when the City of Cambridge proclaimed it to be “Geoff Bartley Day”.

Geoff welcomed nationally-known bluegrass artists to the Cantab stage including Dale Ann Bradley, Tony Trischka, Darol Anger, David Grier, Missy Raines, Jim Hurst, Chris Jones, Molly Tuttle, and the late James King. Bluegrass Tuesdays have also been a place where many bluegrass musicians have met and “cut their teeth”, including members of The Infamous Stringdusters, Crooked Still, Della Mae, The Gibson Brothers, The Steep Canyon Rangers, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys, Mile Twelve, and Alan Bibey & Grasstowne. The Cantab Lounge has now been reinvigorated under new owner Tim Dibble, manager Mike Cronin, and Bluegrass Tuesdays host Tony Watt.

    Thank you, Myrna Riquier

If you are a songwriter, the Podunk annual songwriting competition is underway and nearing its closing date, April 30.

All details are available at the festival website, Podunkbluegrass.com and they include links to the sound tracks of

past winners of this competition. The top three contenders are invited to the festival and are given the opportunity to

perform their contest entry on our Main Stage. Monetary awards as well as some perks are provided to the top three

songwriters. Of special note, the winning song from 2021 will be performed at Podunk 2022 by the band competition

groups. The best six songs are provide on a compilation CD to all of the Main Stage performers at this year’s festival.

In addition, a copy of the winning song is provided to area bluegrass-friendly radio stations for airing.
