BookMatch Sept 21
G Rockwell and Korey Brodsky were raised in the Connecticut Bluegrass Community. Growing up, they turned heads at any jam, leaving the on lookers whispering “prodigy” and wondering, “Who is that kid?” In this special performance, Korey (of Mile Twelve) will be joining G Rockwell and his band, Bookmatch at the new Park City Music Hall in Bridgeport.
G currently makes his home in Boston where he teamed up with Micah Nicol of the Ruta Beggars, creating, Bookmatch. With the incredible Noah Harrington on bass, this will be an unforgettable evening.
“I’m always amazed at the talent that exists outside the mainstream… These guys capture their folk bluegrass idiom perfectly with great songs and heartfelt performances. This is music very much the equal of the great ’70s folk artists: Bromberg, Lightfoot, etc.” – Dino DiMuro, Divide and Conquer, reviewing Beacon Street Time.
Musicians! Bring your instrument for an open jam between sets.
This show is all ages until 9PM, 21+ after 9PM.
Children 12 & under free.

Bluegrass Guitar Lessons (Hamden)

Playing a “little” guitar can get frustrating. Ever feel like you’re playing the same thing over and over, and not really improving? I certainly have been there!
I enjoy teaching guitar, and after a long pandemic break, I am giving guitar lessons again. Bluegrass is my favorite music genre, but the principles are the same in blues, country or folk.
Lessons are based on what you want to work on, your playing level, your goals, your musical style.
A few things I’ve helped students with in the past are:
-Playing solid rhythm guitar-Easy tips for playing more melodic solos, even on unfamiliar songs-Hearing and recognizing common chord patterns, and knowing the notes that go with them (ear training)-Playing confidently in a bluegrass jam-Practice tips
Lessons are outside at my home. 166 Mather Street, Hamden.Rates are $35/ half-hour, $65/ hour.
