Planet Granite Music and Dance Festival brings Bluegrass music to Fairfield County Connecticut

This weekend, September 19-20 brings the inaugural Planet Granite Music and Dance Festival, which brings two time grammy nominated bluegrass guitarist Chris Luquette, as well as a slew of other fantastic artists to a new music and arts venue in Georgetown Connecticut- The Granite.

The festival will include a dance elements as well, with line dancing with Martha, a square dance with Bugs on a Log, swing, flatfooting, and honky tonk country two stepping from Brooklyn’s “Slide Stops” and Boston’s “Talking Hearts”. Saturday will lean more bluegrass and old timey, where Sunday will bring more of a country feel. Here is the full line-up for the weekend:

The festival will feature an indoor and outdoor stage, cash bar, food trucks, and kids activities all day. There will be opportunities for those young and old to learn an instrument or sing harmony in the “how to play in a country band” workshop, bluegrass jamming workshop, and harmony singing workshop.

Farmington Valley Acoustic Music Festival coming to CT in October

Beg, Steal, or Borrow, a 5-piece bluegrass band from Northern Vermont joins the main stage with their high-octane style to the festival. This group has played from Maine to Bermuda and dubbed a “Triple Crown Bluegrass Band” by Bluegrass Today magazine. The Clement Brothers, (of Lonely Heartstring Band) identical twins from New England, will round out the bill on the main stage. The duo is a fusion of each brother’s unique, musical journey, and the result is a music all its own, filled with vocal harmonies, instrumental virtuosity, and a genuine love of song.
